Exemption from Self-Quarantine... Home Shopping Industry Introduces Travel Packages
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] As the government exempts overseas arrivals who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 from mandatory self-quarantine starting from the 21st, the home shopping industry has begun to actively expand sales of overseas travel products to Europe, Southeast Asia, and other regions.
According to the industry on the 19th, CJ OnStyle partnered with the travel agency 'Kyowon KRT' to hold a Hawaii package tour broadcast for the first time in four months at 11:50 PM on the 17th. The luxury vacation featured popular resort destination Hawaii tours, including Hilton-affiliated hotels, premium resorts, sightseeing, and special meals such as Kahuku shrimp dishes and Waikiki Food Hall dinners. The broadcast received over 1,200 customer orders, recording sales exceeding 9 billion KRW.
Lotte Home Shopping also resumed overseas travel products, which had been discontinued since last November after the last sales of Turkey tourism and Mediterranean packages. On the 13th, they launched a golf package in Clark, Philippines, achieving more than double the target sales. They also plan to resume European flight tickets, accommodation, and sightseeing products. A Lotte Home Shopping official stated, “European package products are scheduled to be broadcast in March.”
