Integrated Support for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence 'Seoul Bukbu Haebaragi Center' Opens on the 21st
Professional Staff Including Counselors, Nurses, and Police Officers Provide 24/7 One-Stop Support 365 Days a Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City will open the 'Seoul Northern Sunflower Center' on the 21st, providing victims of sexual violence, domestic violence, and prostitution with a one-stop service 24/7, 365 days a year, from counseling to medical, legal, and investigative support.
According to Seoul City on the 20th, the city selected Seoul Medical Center as the operating institution for the Northern Sunflower Center and established the 'Seoul Northern Sunflower Center' on the first floor of the Sinnae Medical Safety Housing adjacent to Seoul Medical Center.
The newly opened Seoul Northern Sunflower Center was established in the northeastern part of Seoul, where there had been no integrated support institutions for violence victims, enabling victims in the northeastern Seoul area, including Dongdaemun-gu, Nowon-gu, Jungnang-gu, and Dobong-gu, to timely access the center in crisis situations and receive professional support.
The Seoul Northern Sunflower Center has an area of 193.7㎡, making it the second largest among the Sunflower Centers operated by Seoul City, following the Seoul Child Sunflower Center. Currently, five centers, including the Northern Sunflower Center, are in operation in Seoul.
Inside the center, specialized facilities such as examination rooms, counseling rooms, statement recording rooms, and stabilization rooms have been installed to provide victims with a comfortable environment for treatment and psychological stability. Professional staff including counselors, nurses, and police officers have also been assigned. In particular, a system has been established to enable emergency medical treatment and hospitalization at Seoul Medical Center for cases where the victim's condition is severe due to violence.
