Naju City Conducts Training for Domestic New Variety Pear Producers
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do, conducted a "Domestic New Pear Variety Production Farmer Training" over two days from the 16th to the 17th at the Agricultural Technology Center's Farmer Education Hall.
According to the city on the 18th, this training was organized to resolve the concentrated cultivation of the main variety "Shingo Pear," to motivate farmers producing new pear varieties, and to acquire high-quality pear cultivation techniques.
About 50 farms cultivating domestic new pear varieties such as "Sinhwa," "Changjo," and "Super Gold" participated, with Jeongbeom Choi, head of the Fruit Technology Team at the Agricultural Technology Center, serving as the instructor, guiding on the types and characteristics of new varieties, cultivation methods, and precautions.
Along with this training, the city plans to promote a domestic new variety pear marketing project in the second half of the year to facilitate smooth distribution and consumption of new pear varieties and respond to consumer trends.
Seong-eun Jo, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We will continue to conduct education for farmers cultivating domestic varieties to resolve the concentrated cultivation of Shingo Pear and strive to increase the cultivation area of various varieties," adding, "Through customized promotion focusing on the texture, sweetness, and efficacy of new varieties, we will restore the reputation of Naju pears and aim to increase farmers' income."
