The event began with welcome speeches by Son Jae-il, CEO of Hanwha Defense, and Ryu Hyo-jong, Director of Changwon City Smart Innovation Industry Bureau, followed by presentations on Korea-Australia cooperation cases by the Australian delegation from ANCA, HiFraser, Elphinstone, and Penske, and group discussions with Hanwha, Australian partner companies, and domestic partners such as STX Engine, SNT Heavy Industries, and Motrol.
The defense industry cooperation system is considered one of the detailed tasks of the defense industry transformation plan announced by Changwon City in early March.
It is a project to establish a cooperation system among representative defense industry cities of Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom, three countries belonging to the Five Eyes military alliance, as well as global defense industry cities.
The city plans to solidify the cooperation system across industries including defense industry, hydrogen industry, cultural exchange, and human exchange by signing a sister city agreement with Geelong City, Australia, scheduled for next month.
CEO Son Jae-il said, “Hanwha Defense will do its best to further strengthen the partnership with Australia to contribute not only to enhancing Australia’s military power but also to revitalizing Australia’s defense industry.”
