Gwangju Superintendent of Education Candidate Hyeja Park Proposes 'Policy Debate'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Park Hyeja, a preliminary candidate for Superintendent of Education of Gwangju Metropolitan City, proposed a policy debate among candidates before the policy debate hosted by the Election Commission.
She emphasized the need for a candidate who can be chosen by citizens through policy competition in the superintendent election.
In a press release on the 18th, Candidate Park stated, “With the nationwide simultaneous local elections on June 1st approaching, all preliminary candidates including myself have the duty to provide voters with sufficient information about our pledges,” adding, “Intense and thorough debates and discussions among candidates are necessary for the future of Gwangju education.”
She continued, “With the inauguration of a new government, many confusions in education policy are expected,” and explained, “Therefore, meticulous leadership that can steadfastly lead the future of Gwangju education and the presentation of a model for future education have become extremely important.”
Currently, Candidate Park has announced her candidacy and introduced the ‘Three Major Goals and Twelve Core Tasks of Hyeja-style Gwangju Education,’ unveiling her future vision and related pledges.
For ‘Future Competency Education,’ she has prepared pledges such as ▲establishing a Future Education Center ▲achieving zero basic academic underachievement ▲scientific individualized customized education for a competent Gwangju ▲digital literacy education. For ‘Fair Education’ pledges, she proposed ▲zero discrimination policies in school sites ▲building a community care network linked with local communities such as 365 Care Communities ▲equipping an education communication platform ▲expanding career and college information centers to activate student-tailored nurturing education.
For ‘Sustainable Education,’ she promised ▲creating a virtuous cycle ecosystem for regional education ▲establishing a detailed education safety and welfare network for safe schools ▲strengthening school autonomy while reducing administrative burdens through smart administration ▲implementing global citizenship education and democratic human rights education in Gwangju.
