On the 17th, local media reported that Toyota Motor Corporation has halted operations at its Iwate and Ohiramura plants for inspection.
Toyota stated that part of the factory ceiling fell due to the earthquake, and they are currently ensuring safety. They plan to decide whether to resume operations that night after assessing the situation.
Automotive semiconductor company Renesas Electronics temporarily suspended production at two factories in the region.
Additionally, Toshiba's semiconductor factory in Iwate Prefecture is inspecting its production lines, and Sony's semiconductor-related product factory in Miyagi Prefecture has also halted operations.
