20 Billion Won Invested... Gyeombaek Hadeok Village Living Conditions Completely Transformed
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 16th, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that Hyadeok Village in Gyeombaek was selected for the ‘2022 Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project Contest’ hosted by the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development, securing a project budget of 2 billion KRW.
With this selection, Boseong-gun will invest a budget of 2 billion KRW by 2025 to improve residents' living conditions.
Since September last year, Boseong-gun has actively worked with residents to establish necessary project plans and attract the vulnerable area living conditions improvement project.
Hyadeok Village in Gyeombaek-myeon is an old residential area with all buildings over 30 years old. Through this project, hardware improvements such as fence maintenance, roof renovation, vacant house maintenance, and alleyway improvements will be made, as well as resident capacity building to create a resident-led village.
A Boseong-gun official said, “The project includes plans to renovate vacant houses that posed safety and crime concerns, which will improve urban aesthetics and residential environment, and revitalize the village by transforming these spaces into areas for new residents.”
Meanwhile, since 2015, Boseong-gun has been engaged in the ‘Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project’ and has been selected for four consecutive years since 2019.
Every year, two districts are selected through the contest, and a total of 7 districts have received 14.8 billion KRW in project funds to alleviate residents’ inconveniences.
