Hanul Unit 1 Auxiliary Feedwater Pump 'Abnormal' Startup... Nuclear Safety and Security Commission to "Investigate the Incident"
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Jun-hyung] The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission has launched an investigation into Hanul Unit 1.
The NSSC announced that at around 9:32 a.m. on the 16th, it received a report from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power that two auxiliary feedwater pumps were activated during the manual shutdown of the turbine to reduce the output of Hanul Unit 1.
This incident falls under reportable events according to NSSC regulations, as auxiliary feedwater pumps do not normally operate during a standard manual turbine shutdown. The NSSC plans to dispatch experts from the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety to the site to investigate the cause of the activation.
