Seoul Scholarship Foundation Selects 100 Low-Income Vocational School Scholars... Total Support of 100 Million Won
Recruiting 100 Scholarship Students for 1st Semester at Seoul Hope Vocational School
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Scholarship Foundation announced on the 16th that it will select 100 students from vocational schools located in Seoul (from low-income families) and support their tuition fees for the first semester of this year. Applications will be accepted from the 16th through the scholarship departments within the schools, with a total budget of 100 million KRW.
The Seoul Hope Vocational School Scholarship was established in 2020 to support students of vocational schools, which are not classified as regular universities under the Higher Education Act and have been a blind spot in educational support. Selected scholarship recipients will receive 1 million KRW per person for the first semester tuition.
Applicants must be low-income students (recipients of government aid or from the next-lowest income bracket) enrolled in vocational schools in Seoul offering bachelor's or associate degree programs. The actual tuition paid for the first semester of 2022 must be at least 1 million KRW, and the applicant must be registered for at least 12 credits.
However, individual applications are not allowed. The scholarship coordinators within the vocational schools can apply on behalf of students by logging into the Seoul Scholarship Foundation website with the school’s ID from the 16th until April 1st. Those wishing to apply should contact their school's scholarship department.
Additionally, out of the 200 students planned to be recruited this year, 100 will be selected for the first semester, and the second semester scholarship recipients will be selected in September. Even if selected for the first semester, students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply again for the second semester.
