Muju-gun Selected for Additional Aged Water Supply Maintenance Project Competition
Maintenance of 16.4 km Aging Water Supply Pipes in Seolcheonjung Block
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 15th that it has been selected for the Ministry of Environment's '2022 Additional Project for Old Water Supply System Maintenance' contest and secured 4 billion KRW in national funding.
The Muju County Seolcheon Middle Block old water supply network maintenance project involves replacing old water pipes and maintaining the network (drainage pipes L=11 km, supply pipes 5.4 km), repairing 50 valve locations, and installing 25 village-specific management meters and real-time flow/pressure monitoring facilities.
Muju County plans to start construction next month and complete it by March 2025.
Through this project, Muju County aims to improve water supply stability in the Seolcheon-myeon area, establish countermeasures for the water quality accident that occurred last December, and build infrastructure to prevent recurrence.
An official from Muju County Clean Water Project Office said, “Not only will we establish a leakage monitoring system in the Seolcheon-myeon area, but by replacing old water pipes, we will secure stable water quality and pressure. We expect management efficiency and residential environment conditions to improve through enhancing the local water supply retention rate in the Seolcheon-myeon area.”
