Gwangju Buk-gu Announces Operation Status of 'Resident Grievance Committee' to Enhance Residents' Rights
Received 35 Cases at District Residents' Grievance Committee (Ombudsman)... 28 Cases Processed
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 15th the 2021 operational status of the Ombudsman system, the Residents' Grievance Handling Committee, which aims to enhance the rights and interests of residents.
The Residents' Grievance Handling Committee is a system that protects residents' rights from illegal, unfair, passive, or unreasonable administrative actions.
To help residents and public officials understand and effectively utilize the system, the operational status is announced every early year.
Last year, the committee received 35 grievance complaints, completed processing 28 cases, and the remaining 7 cases were dismissed, rejected, or forwarded to the relevant departments.
By type, there was 1 recommendation for system improvement, 10 correction recommendations, 11 expressions of opinion, 6 consultations and guidance, 4 dismissals/rejections, and 3 transfers.
In particular, Buk-gu actively accepted the correction recommendations and expressions of opinion made by the Residents' Grievance Handling Committee and made efforts to resolve the complaints.
A representative of the Residents' Grievance Handling Committee stated, “We will continue to be a committee that listens to residents' voices to ensure that no one receives unfair treatment.”
