Daejeon City Conducts Comprehensive Crackdown on Illegal Distribution of Local Currency 'Ontong Daejeon'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 15th that it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on the illegal distribution of Ontong Daejeon from the 16th to the 31st of this month.
The targets of the crackdown include ▲receiving or exchanging Ontong Daejeon without selling goods or providing services ▲receiving or exchanging Ontong Daejeon through transactions exceeding actual sales ▲franchise stores of Ontong Daejeon operating in restricted industries such as gambling or entertainment establishments ▲franchise stores refusing Ontong Daejeon payments or treating Ontong Daejeon payments less favorably compared to other payment methods.
During the comprehensive crackdown period, the city will strengthen monitoring of Ontong Daejeon transaction status and simultaneously accept reports from Ontong Daejeon users. Reports can be made at any time through the Ontong Daejeon customer center or the Ontong Daejeon app’s ‘Q&A’ section.
If suspected cases of illegal distribution of Ontong Daejeon are detected, joint on-site investigations by the city and autonomous districts will be conducted to enforce the crackdown.
The city plans to issue warnings and provide on-site guidance for minor violations detected during the crackdown, while serious violations will be subject to administrative measures such as franchise registration cancellation, fines, and recovery of unfair profits.
In particular, depending on the scale and severity of the illegal distribution, the city may request investigations from the relevant police station.
