Seoul City Launches Full-Scale Operation of Mobile Women's Job Support Service 'Iljari Bureureung 2.0'
Expanding Employment Support from Career-Interrupted Women and Young Women to Multicultural, Single Mothers, and Single-Parent Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The "Seoul City Visiting Women's Job Support Service, Job Bururung 2.0," which provides employment and education counseling directly to women seeking jobs on-site, is starting its operation.
Seoul City has newly revamped the program as "Job Bururung 2.0," expanding support from career-interrupted women and young women to include vulnerable groups such as those in unstable housing, multicultural families, single mothers and single-parent families, and youth preparing for independence.
In February, agreements were pursued with the Seoul branch of the Housing Management Corporation and the Korea Single Mothers Family Association, and in March with the Geumcheon-gu Family Center. The program supports employment assistance by visiting facilities such as shelters for women victims of domestic violence, the Korea Single Mothers Family Association, multicultural family centers, and My Home Centers. Going forward, it plans to continuously design and operate programs to eliminate job blind spots by directly visiting vulnerable employment groups such as young women preparing for independence after leaving facilities like Jaona School and Seoul Dream Tree Village.
On the Job Bururung bus, career and employment counseling for job-seeking women is assisted using tools such as MBTI occupational psychological tests when necessary, and connections with vocational training programs conducted by nearby Seoul City women's workforce development institutions (23 centers) are also promoted. Job seekers who receive counseling through Job Bururung can also receive practical support such as job information provision and job placement through job registration.
Additionally, a youth women's employment competency enhancement program is operated to help young women graduating from specialized high schools and 2-3 year colleges successfully enter the labor market by visiting schools directly to provide job document consulting, mock interviews, and gender-sensitive labor special lectures. In 2021, the youth women's employment competency enhancement program received a participant satisfaction rate of 98.6%, showing strong positive responses from young women.
Women seeking jobs can book a counseling appointment through the Seoul Women Up website, and online KakaoTalk counseling and phone counseling are available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. If face-to-face counseling is needed, the "Job Bururung Bus" will visit directly to provide job counseling support.
