Seoul Digital Foundation Publishes First Trend Report: 'Seoul City Through Keywords'
Selected Major Issue Keywords for January-February This Year: 'Corona', 'Serious Accident Punishment Act', 'Autonomous Vehicles'
Analyzing Seoul City-Related Social Data to Derive Monthly Issue Keywords and Analyze Citizen Opinions on SNS
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Digital Foundation announced on the 14th that it will publish a trend report titled '#SeoulCity,' which detects major issues in Seoul based on social data.
'#SeoulCity' derives monthly issue keywords related to Seoul from social data and includes environmental scanning results and various discussions on major issue keywords. It collects and analyzes social data mentioning Seoul City to select 15 monthly issue keywords and analyzes issue trends and citizens' opinions on SNS for the major keywords with relatively significant social and economic impact.
The inaugural issue introduces the issue keywords for January and February 2022. The major issue keywords selected were ▲ COVID-19 (Omicron, quarantine pass, home treatment) ▲ Serious Accident Punishment Act ▲ Autonomous Vehicles. Amid ongoing COVID-19 issues, with the spread of the Omicron variant causing daily record highs in confirmed cases domestically, and authorities lowering quarantine thresholds, terms such as ‘quarantine pass’ and ‘home treatment patients’ appeared as top related words on SNS.
Following the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act in January, there is significant interest in the response measures of local governments including Seoul City. Due to some regulations lacking specificity and clarity, confusion has arisen on the ground, leading to ongoing calls for related legal amendments and guideline supplements. Additionally, as Seoul City launched the ‘Paid Autonomous Vehicle Transportation Service’ starting in Sangam-dong, allowing anyone to easily use autonomous vehicles, expectations for commercialization of autonomous vehicles and interest in safety and convenience have heightened.
