Kim Du-kwan: "Local Elections Should Be Held with Lee Jae-myung as Emergency Committee Chair"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Kim Du-gwan, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Gyeongnam Yangsan B), argued on the 11th that former presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung should be appointed as the party's Emergency Response Committee Chairperson to lead the local elections.
On the same day, Kim posted on Facebook, saying, "I believe former candidate Lee should take on the role of Emergency Response Committee Chairperson to innovate the Democratic Party and lead the local elections," adding, "Our party currently needs a strong captain to lead the local elections."
Kim stated, "Preparing for the election under Emergency Response Committee Chairperson Yoon Ho-jung seems unfair to comrades preparing under worsening conditions," and insisted, "The party must nominate former candidate Lee as the Emergency Response Committee Chairperson. Only Chairman Lee Jae-myung can stabilize the party in crisis and lead the local elections to victory."
Kim also called for personnel reform. He said, "The first thing the Democratic Party must do is a ruthless purge," adding, "Those responsible for the Cho Kuk incident, Yoon Seok-yeol's endorsers, and those accountable for real estate failures must be decisively removed."
He continued, "The start of personnel cleansing should begin with the expulsion of real estate officials such as Noh Young-min, Kim Hyun-mi, and Kim Soo-hyun," emphasizing, "For the sake of the local elections, the responsibility for defeat must be strictly enforced."
Kim identified the cause of the recent presidential election defeat as the failure of real estate policies.
He pointed out, "This election was a referendum on real estate. However, those who should be held accountable shamelessly ran in local elections and canvassed votes, and the party did not restrain these figures at all," adding, "It would be strange if the public did not turn away from such an arrogant and insensitive Democratic Party."
Kim also questioned, "Who is responsible for recommending Yoon Seok-yeol, the ultimate failure in personnel decisions, to the presidency?"

Furthermore, he said, "Even though the party's presidential candidate has been confirmed, the issue of party members who continuously and maliciously slandered our party's candidate as qualified party members cannot be tolerated," and insisted, "How can those who openly support other party candidates be members of the Democratic Party? They must be immediately expelled and prevented from ever approaching the Democratic Party again."
