Meeting with Chinese Ambassador, Yoon Says "Confident Han-Chung Relations Will Further Develop"

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol met with Chinese Ambassador Xing Haiming on the 11th and said, "I am confident that Korea-China relations will further develop."
On the same day, President-elect Yoon received Ambassador Xing's visit at the People Power Party headquarters. Upon hearing Yoon's remark that "China is one of our top three trading partners," Ambassador Xing responded, "It is one of the top three trading partners, but it could become the second largest trading partner the year after next."
Ambassador Xing also delivered a congratulatory message sent by Chinese President Xi Jinping to President-elect Yoon the previous day. In the message, President Xi stated, "I sincerely congratulate and warmly commend the election of the 20th President of the Republic of Korea," and added, "China and Korea are close neighbors and important cooperative partners."
He continued, "Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Korea, it has brought substantial benefits to the peoples of both countries and made positive contributions to promoting world peace, security, prosperity, and development."
President Xi said, "This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Korea, which holds significant meaning for bilateral relations," and added, "China is willing to firmly uphold the original intention of establishing diplomatic relations together with Korea, deepen friendly cooperation, promote the stable and long-term development of the strategic cooperative partnership, and bring welfare to both countries and their peoples."
Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the President-elect, stated in a separate briefing in the afternoon, "President Xi expressed hope for the stable development of the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, and President-elect Yoon also expressed his gratitude," and added, "President-elect Yoon emphasized that the roles of the leaders of both countries are important for the development of Korea-China relations. Our people expect China to fulfill its role as a responsible global nation."
