Suncheon Cultural Foundation Selected Again as the Organizing Body for the 2022 Culture Day Youth Mic in Gwangju and Jeonnam
Expanding Performance Opportunities for Young Artists and Spreading Local Cultural Arts Content
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon Cultural Foundation (Chairman Heo Seok) announced on the 11th that it has been finally selected as the organizing body for the ‘2022 Culture Day’ Youth Microphone_Gwangju·Jeonnam Region, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Regional Culture Promotion Agency.
‘Youth Microphone’ is a project that provides performance opportunities on ‘Culture Day’ to young artists in Korea who have talent and passion, supporting them to nurture their dreams and grow into professional artists.
Following last year, Suncheon Cultural Foundation, which organizes the Youth Microphone_Gwangju·Jeonnam Region again this year, plans to select 30 young artist teams through an open call and support a total of 150 regular performances annually.
This project is fully funded by the national government with a total budget of 373 million KRW, and from next month until November, over approximately eight months, cultural and artistic performances involving young artists will be showcased at various locations in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
In particular, this year’s Youth Microphone will operate under the concept of the ‘Village Constellation Project’ connecting village to village, by visiting villages with the same name across Gwangju and Jeonnam and linking these villages through Youth Microphone activities.
Beyond simple performances, it will create a space for sharing and communicating the origins of the village names and stories between villages with the same name, preparing to expand content that combines village stories and performances.
