Kakao Entertainment's 'Super Webtoon Project' Targets Overseas Markets
Selected as KakaoPage's 'Siren' for This Year's First Work
Kakao Entertainment announced on the 11th that it will expand the 'Super Webtoon Project' as a concept aimed at overseas expansion. The Super Webtoon Project is a video adaptation business utilizing domestic webtoon intellectual property (IP) started by Kakao Entertainment in 2020. Going forward, in addition to the existing criteria of video adaptation potential, IP completeness, and artistic quality, global potential will be added to select works. A Kakao Entertainment official explained, "We plan to carefully select works that have the perfect harmony of illustration, dialogue, and story, and that reflect global trends such as autonomous female narratives."

The first work of this year is Kakao Page's new release, 'Siren.' It depicts a romance that unfolds when the protagonist Aria, who enchants people with her singing, enters into a contract marriage with the Grand Duke of Valentine, who is said to have sold his soul to a demon. A Kakao Entertainment official added, "It boasts gothic-style sketches, mythological imagination, and tightly woven storytelling," and "It has already recorded about 50 million views combined from the web novel and webtoon."
