Gyeonggi-do to Pay 250,000 KRW Quarterly for Youth Basic Income... Applications Accepted Until April 1
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications for the first quarter of this year for the "Youth Basic Income," which provides 250,000 KRW quarterly to 24-year-old youth, until April 1.
The eligible applicants are 24-year-old youth born between January 2, 1997, and January 1, 1998, who currently have their resident registration in Gyeonggi Province and have either continuously resided in Gyeonggi for more than three years as of the application date or have a total residence period of more than ten years.
Youth recipients of basic livelihood security benefits are eligible for exceptional retroactive applications.
Youth recipients of basic livelihood security benefits who met the residence requirements and were 24 years old from the first quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2021 can receive up to 1,000,000 KRW. This is due to the ordinance amendment and social security changes completed last year, allowing basic livelihood security recipients to receive the Youth Basic Income as a lump sum starting from the fourth quarter of last year.
Applicants can sign up as members on the Gyeonggi Province job platform Jobaba (apply.jobaba.net) and apply online or via mobile.
The required document is a resident registration abstract (issued after March 2, including the address history for the last five years or the entire period).
However, since last year, a public MyData service has been introduced to simplify document submission, allowing the youth to automatically submit the resident registration abstract with their consent. Basic livelihood security recipients must separately submit a certificate of basic livelihood security recipient.
Existing recipients who agreed to automatic application last quarter will be reviewed without a separate application, but if there are changes in personal information or if retroactive applications for the 2nd to 4th quarters of last year are desired, information must be updated within the application period.
After verifying the applicant's age and residence period, the province will pay 250,000 KRW in local currency corresponding to the first quarter starting from April 20, in the form of an electronic card or mobile payment.

Selected recipients will receive a confirmation message via text, and the card will be delivered to the address entered during application. After receiving the card, registering it through the customer center or mobile app allows immediate use like a check card at traditional markets or small business establishments within the registered area. Use is restricted at department stores, large supermarkets, corporate supermarkets (SSM), entertainment establishments, and similar venues.
