Gyeongnam Sancheong-gun Accepts Applications for 'Gyeongsangnam-do Education Support Card' to Improve Elementary, Middle, and High School Academic Achievement
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is accepting applications for the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Education Support Card Project.'
The Gyeongnam Education Support Card Project is a follow-up to last year's 'Support Project for Education of Low-Income Children,' designed to improve academic achievement and provide equal educational opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students from households earning 70% or less of the median income.
The support targets elementary, middle, and high school students from households with income at or below 70% of the median income (recognized income of 3,584,000 KRW for a four-person household).
Among last year's beneficiaries, those with income at or below 70% of the median income (basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, single-parent families, and education expense beneficiaries for elementary, middle, and high school) do not need to apply separately. However, for education expense beneficiaries, support will only be provided if the recognized income surveyed this year is at or below 70% of the median income.
An annual point of 100,000 KRW per person will be credited on the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Education Support Card.'
This card can be used for purchasing books (local bookstores, online bookstores), attending online lectures, and the usage period is until October 31 of this year.
Applications can be submitted by July 29 at the local town or township offices or online through the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Education Support Card' website.
Starting this year, the application period has been extended from one month to five months, and the scope of support has been expanded to include not only learning books but also stationery and other learning-related supplies, as well as technical and vocational academies, which is expected to increase convenience for students.
