Gokseong-gun, Critical Effort to Secure Local Extinction Response Fund

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-seon] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 8th that it is actively working to secure the Local Extinction Response Fund.

On the 4th, Gokseong-gun held the 'Local Extinction Response Fund Investment Plan Establishment Research Service Kick-off Meeting.'

The meeting was attended by the deputy governor, related departments, as well as the Future Education Foundation, Jeonnam Science University, and local youth organizations, showing high interest.

The Local Extinction Response Fund is a resource for responding to local population decline and promoting population vitality. It supports a total of 10 trillion KRW over 10 years, with 1 trillion KRW annually, focusing on 89 population-declining areas designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last October.

This year, differential support of up to 12 billion KRW per basic local government will be provided, and in 2023, the support scale is expected to expand up to 16 billion KRW.

The amount of support per local government will be determined by evaluating the investment plans submitted by May. Accordingly, local governments are going all out to secure more funds.

Gokseong-gun formed a promotion council consisting of related departments, affiliated organizations, and private groups, led by the deputy governor as the head.

Through the council, they plan to discover differentiated projects that can continuously produce results rather than consumptive projects, aiming to secure as much funding as possible.

This research service is also being promoted to establish a professional and substantial investment plan considering regional conditions in areas such as jobs and economy, education, settlement and relocation, medical care, health, welfare, improvement of residential conditions, and expansion of living population.

A county official said, “We hope that the projects to be promoted through the fund will serve as a catalyst for making Gokseong the No. 1 in the happiness index of residents. We will strive to secure the maximum fund by discovering high-demand, high-value projects that can enhance population vitality through the research service.”
