Ulsan Fire Department, "Spring Season, Beware of Wildfires, Cardiac Arrests, and Mechanical Accidents"... Announces Analysis of 15 Years of Dispatch Data
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] In the Ulsan region, the risk of wildfires, cardiac arrest, and other four major severe conditions, as well as machinery accidents, is higher in spring than in other seasons.
The Ulsan Fire Headquarters recently announced this after analyzing 15 years of Ulsan fire activity statistics from the 'Fire Safety Big Data Platform.'
Wildfires occurred most frequently in spring with 1,097 cases (35.2%), followed by winter (1,056 cases), autumn (595 cases), and summer (370 cases).
Special fires such as hazardous materials occurred in the order of spring (34 cases, 29.8%), winter (29 cases), autumn (27 cases), and summer (24 cases), while machinery accidents occurred most in autumn (269 cases), followed by spring (258 cases), summer (255 cases), and winter (199 cases).
Dispatches for the four major severe conditions including cardiac arrest, severe trauma, and cardiovascular issues occurred most in winter (1,134 cases), followed by spring (1,127 cases), autumn (904 cases), and summer (898 cases).
The Fire Headquarters analyzes that the high incidence of wildfires, cardiac arrests, and machinery accidents in spring is due to the dry and large temperature differences typical of the transitional weather during the season.
The 'Fire Safety Big Data Platform' was established by the National Fire Agency in May last year to allow the general public to use dispatch status and chemical information effectively in the fire industry and research fields, and the Ulsan Headquarters participates in its operation by providing data.
Jung Byung-do, Chief of the Ulsan Fire Headquarters, said, “We will make every effort to strengthen on-site response capabilities by utilizing fire big data to analyze daily life safety accidents and establish prevention policies.”
To prevent wildfires, hikers and citizens should follow safety rules such as ▲prohibiting possession of flammable materials like lighters and burners when entering mountains ▲prohibiting burning of fields or trash near forests, and promptly report wildfires to 119.
To prevent cardiac arrest accidents, it is necessary to ▲avoid excessive stress, overwork, and intense exercise ▲quit smoking and drinking ▲undergo regular health checkups if you belong to a high-risk group with a family history of sudden death or conditions such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, or hyperlipidemia.
