The meeting began with reports from Kim Jung-kwon, Director of the Disaster Safety Office, on the current status of the wildfire, housing support measures for disaster victims, and the government's procedures for supporting wildfire damage restoration funds.
It was reported that although there were no casualties from this wildfire, 530 households totaling 585 people became disaster victims due to property damage.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo ordered, "The province should actively support the damage investigation of the Uljin wildfire in cooperation with private organizations such as the Association of Village Chiefs, and secure temporary housing facilities for disaster victims within a week. Utilize various donations and disaster relief funds to secure temporary housing facilities, and consult with LH Corporation and others to prepare practical measures."
He also said, "Temporary housing should support disaster victims to live in places they desire, such as temporary houses, one-room apartments, pensions, resorts, and caravans equipped with water and sewage facilities, based on the opinions of the affected residents. Also, establish standards for livelihood support for disaster victims living in relatives' homes."
The governor urged, "For permanent housing support for disaster victims, do not wait for government national subsidies such as half-price housing support by consulting with LH Corporation and Gyeongbuk Development Corporation. Led by the Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, devise and implement special support measures, and each department should maximize support measures for affected residents."
Governor Lee Cheol-woo attended the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting related to the wildfire held in the video conference room of Uljin County Office in the afternoon of the same day.
