Yeonggwang-gun Issues 'Braille-Enabled' Yeonggwang Love Gift Certificates for the Visually Impaired
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun announced on the 7th that it has issued Yeonggwang Love Gift Certificates with Braille applied to enhance convenience for the visually impaired.
The issuance scale of this Yeonggwang Love Gift Certificate (paper type) is about 1.5 billion KRW, and following the application of QR codes for the mildly visually impaired, it is the first in the nation to apply Braille indicating the denomination for the severely visually impaired.
The Yeonggwang Love Gift Certificates can be purchased by visiting 31 financial institutions within the county starting from the end of March and can be used at 2,525 affiliated stores within the county.
A county official stated, “Braille notation was promoted to improve the convenience and accessibility of gift certificate use for the visually impaired,” adding, “We will gradually expand the Braille application from the 50,000 KRW denomination to the 10,000 KRW denomination to ensure that vulnerable groups are not excluded from using the Yeonggwang Love Gift Certificates (paper type).”
