Gochang-gun Significantly Expands Support for Small and Medium Agricultural Machinery Purchase Costs

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang County announced on the 7th that it will significantly expand support for the small and medium-sized agricultural machinery support project by investing a total project cost of 1.31 billion KRW to reduce the burden of purchasing agricultural machinery for farmers and to facilitate smooth farming operations.

The support for small and medium-sized agricultural machinery is a key project aimed at resolving labor shortages caused by the decline, aging, and feminization of the rural population, as well as reducing production costs and improving farming efficiency through mechanization of farming tasks.

This year’s small and medium-sized agricultural machinery support project will mainly supply tillers, cultivators, power sprayers, and fertilizer spreaders, which are highly preferred by farmers in the field, allowing farmers to autonomously select and purchase the agricultural machinery they need.

The supported agricultural machinery includes small and medium-sized agricultural machinery products priced under 5 million KRW listed in the "Government-Supported Agricultural Machinery Catalog" published by the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative. Depending on the price of the machinery, 40% of the cost will be subsidized, with a maximum support of up to 2 million KRW.

Jo Usam, Director of the Agricultural Life Support Division at Gochang County Office, stated, "We plan to complete the supply of agricultural machinery before the farming season to actively utilize it during the farming period." He added, "We expect this to help alleviate labor shortages and reduce management costs in rural areas, which are currently facing difficulties due to aging and the increase of female farmers."
