View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Shinsegae Group announced on the 7th that it will donate 500 million KRW in relief funds to support recovery from the forest fires in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and the Gangwon region, as well as aid for disaster victims. The funds will be delivered through the 'Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.'
Shinsegae Group stated, "Separately from the relief funds, we plan to provide essential daily necessities to disaster victims living in temporary shelters and to on-site relief personnel today, in close consultation with the 'Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.'"
Emart plans to deliver beverages, coffee, and snacks, Emart24 will provide beverages, cup noodles, and chocolates, and Emart Everyday will supply cup noodles through stores and logistics centers near the affected areas.
Gmarket is planning support for firefighters who are working hard on the front lines of the forest fire suppression. Having consistently run firefighter support programs, Gmarket will provide on-site firefighters with items necessary for fire suppression, such as protective goggles for eye protection.
Earlier, on the 5th and 6th, Emart, in consultation with local governments in Gangwon and Gyeongbuk regions, supported disaster victims with emergency supplies such as bottled water, snacks, blankets, and hot packs through stores near the affected areas including Emart Donghae Branch, Pohang Idong Branch, and Gangneung Branch.
A Shinsegae Group official said, "Due to the sudden large-scale forest fire causing a national disaster, we decided to provide additional daily necessities and donate relief funds to support disaster victims and relief personnel working hard on site. Shinsegae Group hopes that the affected residents can return to their daily lives as soon as possible and will continue to strive to help the local community."
