[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is recruiting youth autonomous clubs called ‘Gwangcle (Gwangjin-gu Club)’ to support the healthy growth of teenagers.
‘Gwangcle’ is a project promoted to help teenagers cultivate a sense of community as members of the local area and to form a healthy after-school culture. Teenagers can apply for clubs that are autonomously organized and operated as ‘Gwangcle’ and receive active support such as subsidies from Gwangjin-gu and opportunities to participate in youth festivals.
The eligibility criteria are ▲ clubs residing in or based in Gwangjin-gu ▲ clubs not affiliated with schools or academies ▲ clubs consisting of at least 5 teenagers aged 9 to 24, including 1 guardian ▲ clubs capable of activities more than 10 times a year. The recruitment fields include ▲ career ▲ 4th industry ▲ social participation ▲ mathematics and science exploration ▲ culture, arts, sports, and other fields based on youth autonomous activities.
Gwangjin-gu plans to select 20 clubs by April and provide subsidies of up to 2 million KRW per club. Selected clubs will also have the opportunity to present their achievements during the year by participating in the ‘2022 Gwangjin Innovation Education Youth Festival.’
The application period is until 6 p.m. on the 11th. Applicants should submit the application form, annual club activity plan, subsidy usage plan, etc., via email to the person in charge or by visiting the Education Support Division. Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Through this project, teenagers will have various experiences outside of school and discover themselves growing together within the community.” He added, “We will continue to actively support clubs based on the autonomous activities of Gwangjin-gu’s youth.”
