Bucheon City Enrolls in Citizen Safety Insurance... Up to 10 Million KRW Paid for Disaster Accidents
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will renew and enroll in the Citizen Safety Insurance starting from the 1st of this month.
Citizen Safety Insurance is a system where Bucheon City fully covers the insurance premium and pays up to 10 million KRW in insurance benefits to citizens who suffer from aftereffects or death due to natural disasters, fires, collapses, and other incidents.
The insurance period is from March 1st to February 28th of next year, and all citizens registered in Bucheon City (including registered foreigners) are automatically enrolled. They can receive insurance benefits if they suffer damages covered by the insured items.
The coverage includes 10 items such as ▲death from natural disasters ▲death from explosion, fire, or collapse ▲accidents while using public transportation ▲death from assault injuries ▲traffic accidents within school zones ▲death from gas-related injury accidents, among others.
To claim insurance benefits, the victim or legal heir must submit the required documents to the insurance institution (Korea Local Finance Association) within 3 years from the date of the incident. Detailed information can be obtained through the Korea Local Finance Association Claim Center.
