Yeongju City, Officials' Resolution Meeting to Establish Seonbi Spirit Public Service Culture and Realize 'Integrity Yeongju'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk, known as the city of scholars, has launched an initiative to improve the integrity of public officials under the slogan "Realizing a Cleaner and More Honest Yeongju Public Service."
On the 2nd, Yeongju City held a pledge ceremony for the establishment of a culture of integrity at City Hall, attended by Mayor Jang Uk-hyun and over 60 senior public officials.
Kim Jun-han, Director of the Planning and Budget Office, read the pledge on behalf of all City Hall employees, and all attending senior officials reaffirmed their commitment to practicing integrity, marking the start of the event.
The pledge includes four key commitments: performing duties transparently and fairly, adhering to the public officials' code of conduct, prohibiting improper work instructions, improving courtesy, and fostering a transparent public service environment.
During the subsequent integrity performance, participants reflected on the lesson from the old proverb "Even a large embankment can collapse from an ant's hole" (Je-gwe-ui-hyeol, 堤潰蟻穴), expressing their determination to block any corruption and irregularities in the public service without any gaps.
Mayor Jang Uk-hyun stated, "I hope this will serve as a stepping stone for all employees to learn and comply with the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and the public officials' code of conduct, leading Yeongju to take a step forward as a cleaner city."
