Wando-gun Implements Emission Reduction Project for Aging Diesel Vehicles
1.18 Billion KRW Invested in 'Air Quality Improvement'
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Jeonnam Wando-gun announced on the 2nd that it will promote a project to reduce emissions from old diesel vehicles.
The county plans to spend 1.18 billion KRW this year to support early scrapping of old diesel vehicles (700 units) and purchase of new LPG cargo vehicles (24 units).
The early scrapping support targets diesel vehicles rated grade 5 for emissions and road-use type 3 construction machinery (dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pump trucks) manufactured under emission standards before 2005, registered in the county for more than 6 months, owned for more than 6 months, and capable of normal operation.
The early scrapping subsidy amount is determined based on the vehicle standard value calculated by the Insurance Development Institute according to the vehicle type and year. For passenger cars with 5 seats or less, 50% of the standard value is provided as the basic subsidy upon early scrapping, and an additional 50% subsidy is given when purchasing a new vehicle (including 1~2 grade used cars).
The maximum subsidy limit is up to 3 million KRW for vehicles under 3.5 tons gross weight, and up to 40 million KRW for vehicles over 3.5 tons. An additional 500,000 KRW is provided when purchasing a new zero-emission vehicle (electric or hydrogen vehicle).
However, diesel vehicle purchases are excluded.
Among vehicles under 3.5 tons gross weight, those without developed or installable particulate matter reduction devices, livelihood-type, commercial-use, or owned by small business owners can receive up to 6 million KRW.
Especially from this year, after application, applicants receive a confirmation receipt and proceed with scrapping according to the procedure, and priority selection is applied upon submission of supporting documents.
When purchasing a new 1-ton LPG cargo vehicle after scrapping an old diesel vehicle, an additional 2 million KRW subsidy for new vehicle purchase is provided.
Whether a diesel vehicle is grade 5 for emissions can be checked on the Ministry of Environment or the vehicle emissions grading system website. Applications by registered mail or visits to the local eup/myeon office are also accepted until the 11th.
