HanSun Engineering Selected as Bloom SK Fuel Cell Parts Supplier... "First Case for a Korean Company"
Meets World’s Best Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Component Standards
Bloom Energy Fuel Cell Installed... Exported Globally
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] BloomSK Fuels announced on the 2nd that it has selected Hanseon Engineering, a mid-sized domestic company, as a parts supplier. This is the first time for a domestic company. The parts made by Hanseon Engineering are installed in Bloom Energy's solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and exported worldwide, including to the United States. BloomSK Fuels is a joint venture between Bloom Energy and SK Ecoplant.
Hanseon Engineering is a manufacturer of high-performance instrumentation fittings, valves, and plumbing. It supplies fittings and plumbing to Bloom Energy. These parts serve the fuel distribution function of Bloom Energy's fuel cell system. Fittings and plumbing require precise design to fit perfectly in small spaces. They also require high durability and heat resistance suitable for fuel cells operating 24 hours a day. BloomSK Fuels judged that Hanseon Engineering's parts meet these high standards.
The fittings and plumbing made by Hanseon Engineering are supplied as core parts to the BloomSK Fuels factory in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do. They are also exported to Bloom Energy's manufacturing facilities in the United States. This means that Hanseon Engineering's fittings and plumbing are installed in Bloom Energy's solid oxide fuel cells and exported worldwide. It has paved the way for a domestic mid-sized company to enter the global market.
Earlier, in October last year, BloomSK Fuels signed a business agreement with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, SK Ecoplant, and Bloom Energy to actively discover and nurture domestic small and mid-sized companies to promote the localization of solid oxide fuel cells. This is to expand the world's top-level domestic supply chain for solid oxide fuel cells and build a hydrogen ecosystem. BloomSK Fuels expects that these localization efforts will contribute to the transition to an eco-friendly hydrogen economy.
The four companies?KHNP, SK Ecoplant, Bloom Energy, and BloomSK Fuels?plan to actively discover and support promising domestic materials and parts small and mid-sized companies to help them enter overseas markets and accelerate the development of the domestic fuel cell ecosystem. In particular, the technical and industry-academic cooperation support from Bloom Energy and BloomSK Fuels is expected to lead to improved technological capabilities and quality competitiveness of domestic fuel cell parts suppliers.
