Gyeongnam Province, Strengthening Safety Awareness as the Frozen Ground Thaws!
Inspection of Safety-Vulnerable Facilities for Thawing Season
March 2-18, Retaining Walls and Slopes, etc.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsangnam-do will inspect the safety of vulnerable facilities during the thawing period from the 2nd to the 18th.
This is to prevent safety accidents that may occur due to weakened ground caused by the melting of the frozen surface throughout the winter.
The province plans to form a public-private joint inspection team with relevant city and county departments and safety diagnosis experts to examine 35 locations, including 23 retaining walls and 12 cut slopes.
The main inspection items include checking for subsidence of the foundation ground, the condition of drainage facilities such as drainage channels and drainage pipes, cracks or bulging in retaining walls, cracks in the upper natural slopes, and risks of falling rocks or soil erosion.
Minor hazards will be corrected immediately on site or emergency measures will be taken, and major defects will undergo detailed safety inspections for repair and reinforcement.
Facilities with concerns about safety accidents will be promptly subjected to follow-up measures such as prohibition of use, designation of danger zones, and installation of control lines to ensure safety.
