Incheon Gyeyang Police Station announced on the 28th that at around 6:50 a.m., a 13-year-old first-year middle school student, A, was found dead lying face down on his bed in his room at an apartment in Gyeyang-gu by his mother, who then called 119 emergency services.
When the 119 paramedics arrived after the report, A was already deceased. There were no signs on A’s body suggesting homicide, and no tools for extreme self-harm were found in the room.
A lived with his parents and younger sister and was understood to have no underlying health conditions. He had completed his second COVID-19 vaccination on December 1 of last year.
A’s mother was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 22nd and was in self-quarantine.

A police official stated, "A tested negative for COVID-19 in a test conducted before his death," and added, "An autopsy will be performed by the National Forensic Service."
