Jeongeup-si Provides Free 'Health Masks' to All Citizens

The city announced on the 28th that, due to the serious situation of a rapid increase in COVID-19 confirmed cases caused by the spread of Omicron and the expected prolongation, it will provide 20 health masks per person free of charge to all citizens.

This mask distribution was prepared to quickly establish various measures as confirmed cases continue to rise, to alleviate the anxiety of local residents, and to create a safe urban environment.

Additionally, by using disaster management funds to purchase products produced by four local mask manufacturers, this initiative aims to help revitalize the local economy.

A total of 2.13 million masks will be distributed this time, with a total budget of 500 million KRW.

The city plans to distribute KF94 masks certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, expecting them to be helpful not only in preventing COVID-19 but also in protecting the respiratory system from fine dust during spring.

The masks will be distributed sequentially from next month through eup/myeon offices and dong community centers.

In particular, personnel will be assigned to ease the workload caused by ongoing tasks in eup/myeon/dong and the presidential election on the 9th of next month, ensuring rapid and efficient mask distribution.

A health center official said, “As Omicron confirmed cases have recently surged, compliance with quarantine rules has become even more important,” adding, “Since wearing masks is the best preventive measure against COVID-19 infection, please strictly follow the quarantine guidelines.”
