"Talking About Ex-Boyfriend" Boyfriend Grabs and Assaults Teenage Girlfriend by Hair
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A man in his 20s was sentenced to prison for punching his underage girlfriend after suspecting her of talking about her ex-boyfriend.
On the 26th, Judge Jung Sooyoung of the Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 3 announced that A (25), who was charged with injury and assault, was sentenced to 10 months in prison.
On November 1st last year, A dragged B (18), who was sitting in the passenger seat of a car, grabbed her hair, and repeatedly hit her torso with his hands and feet.
During the 20-minute drive to the house parking lot after B got back into the car, A continued to punch her face.
After arriving at the destination, A opened the passenger door, grabbed B’s hair, cursed at her, punched her, and kicked her.
It was reported that A assaulted B because he suspected her of talking about her ex-boyfriend while she was on the phone with a friend.
It was also revealed that A had punched B during an argument about three months earlier.

Judge Jung explained the sentencing, stating, "Considering that the victim was a minor and his romantic partner, the repeated assaults, the significant physical and psychological harm caused, and the fact that the crime was committed during the probation period for a previous injury offense under the Road Traffic Act."
