Prosecutors Request Arrest Warrants for Hyundai Steel Executives in Hakdong Tragedy
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] An arrest warrant has been requested for an executive at the HDC Hyundai Development Company headquarters in connection with the Gwangju Hakdong disaster.
According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office has requested an arrest warrant for Executive A of Hyundai Development Company, who is suspected of bid-rigging.
Executive A's pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant substantive examination) is scheduled for the morning of the 24th.
Executive A is suspected of being involved in selecting the general building demolition contractor for the redevelopment project in Hakdong 4 District, Dong-gu. It has been investigated that during the 'designated competitive bidding' process, he disclosed the specific bid amount to Hansol Enterprise, which was ultimately selected as the demolition contractor.
The police plan to consider additional detention measures for the association and maintenance company officials involved in the bid misconduct once the issuance of the arrest warrant for Executive A is decided, and to expand the investigation to the approval line within the Hyundai Development Company headquarters.
