Naju-si Launches Full-Scale Promotion of 'Clean Jeonnam Prime Village Creation'

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that it will actively promote the “Creating Clean Jeonnam’s Best Villages,” a Jeonnam-do-led policy project where residents take the lead in cultivating the village environment.

The Best Village Creation project is a program aimed at improving the village environment led by residents of 22 cities and counties in the province by 2025, under three main goals: “changing awareness,” “environmental cleanup,” and “landscape improvement.”

The city plans to select about 50 villages annually until 2025 and provide a total project fund of 9 million KRW per village over three years, with 3 million KRW each year.

After implementing the project for 45 villages last year, the city aims to select an additional 45 villages this year and create distinctive village landscapes through consulting.

Villages wishing to participate in the project must submit the application form, project plan, and other required documents to the Eup, Myeon, or Dong administrative welfare center by the 28th.

The target villages will be finally selected next month after the city’s internal review and Jeonnam-do’s evaluation.

Earlier, the city achieved a great success by winning the grand prize in the 2021 Jeonnam Clean Best Village Creation project city/county comprehensive evaluation, securing 50 million KRW in prize money.

Additionally, three villages?Nampyeong Village in Nampyeong-eup, Daesil Village in Bonghwang-myeon, and Yeongsan-dong 7th District?were selected as excellent Best Villages and will receive an additional 2 million KRW in project funds this year.

The city plans to link similar ongoing projects such as “Clean Naju Creation” by village, “Flower Road Creation with Public-Private Cooperation,” and “Urban Regeneration” with the Best Village project, and will strive to create synergy in village environment improvement activities through collaboration with public institutions and organizations.

A city official said, “Through the Best Village Creation project, residents are taking an interest in village affairs and creating a pleasant environment and a mature community. We expect that this year as well, the valuable efforts and affection of residents will beautifully cultivate every corner of the region.”
