Korea National Oil Corporation President Kim Dong-seop Appointed as Chairman of Overseas Resources Development Association

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Kim Dong-seop, President of Korea National Oil Corporation, was appointed as the new chairman at the regular general meeting of the Overseas Resources Development Association held on the 22nd at the Dragon City Hotel in Seoul and took office.
New Chairman Kim Dong-seop worked for 20 years at the major oil company Shell as the Asia-Pacific regional technical director, among other roles. He later served as the head of technology and chief technology officer at SK Innovation, dean of the College of Information and Bio Convergence at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), and is currently serving as president of the Korea National Oil Corporation.
In his inaugural speech, Chairman Kim said, "For our resource-poor country, timely acquisition of economically viable resources in preparation for emergencies is very important," adding, "The public and private sectors will cooperate to actively support overseas resource development to secure traditional resources such as oil and gas, as well as key raw materials."
He also added that, besides traditional resource development companies, they plan to actively recruit semiconductor, battery, and renewable energy companies as new members of the Overseas Resources Development Association.
He expressed his ambition to build a stable supply chain for key resources to make the industrial ecosystem's value chain structure more dense.

New Chairman Kim Dong-seop emphasized, "We will also accelerate education and training to cultivate experts by digitizing accumulated overseas resource development data, expanding information infrastructure, and integrating advanced future industry technologies."
