Hampyeong-gun Actively Takes Measures to Address Stray Dog Issues 'Attracting Attention'
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is drawing attention by actively preparing measures to solve the recently emerging stray dog problem.
On the 21st, according to the county, they will promote and support measures to alleviate residents' anxiety caused by stray dogs appearing throughout the city and to prevent the euthanasia of stray dogs.
The county has encouraged the adoption of stray dogs targeting eup and myeon offices, institutions, and social organizations, and plans to promote stray dog adoption to residents using banners and the county website.
In addition, to create a hygienic breeding environment, the remodeling of the abandoned animal protection center was completed last year and is currently in operation. Furthermore, an additional 56 million won will be invested to strengthen stray dog care.
As a preventive measure to reduce the occurrence rate of stray dogs, the county has also implemented the ‘Animal Registration System’ and the ‘Outdoor Dog Neutering Project’ to establish fundamental countermeasures.
The ‘Outdoor Dog Neutering Project’ is a program that supports the cost of neutering surgery for dogs raised outdoors. This year, the Mokpo project volume is 30 dogs, and the county plans to gradually expand this to control the number of outdoor dogs.
In addition, the county plans to activate the ‘Animal Registration System,’ which involves implanting microchips in pets, to prevent the occurrence of abandonment and loss in advance.
