Choi Min-jeong (Seongnam City Hall), Kim A-rang (Goyang City Hall), and Lee Yu-bin (Yonsei University) all advanced to the semifinals of the women's 1500m short track at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
On the 16th, Choi Min-jeong crossed the finish line first with a time of 2 minutes 20.846 seconds in the first heat of the women's 1500m short track quarterfinals held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China. After a cautious start from behind, she surged to the lead with eleven laps remaining. Using her characteristic outside lane sprint, she comfortably left behind Zhang Yuting (China), Petra J?szap?ti (Hungary), Rianne de Vries (Netherlands), Kamila Stormowska (Poland), and Arianna Sighel (Italy).
Choi Min-jeong holds the world record in this event. In November 2016, at the 2016-2017 ISU Short Track World Cup 2nd leg held at the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City, USA, she finished the semifinal in 2 minutes 14.354 seconds. At the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, she won the gold medal with a time of 2 minutes 24.948 seconds.

Kim A-rang (Goyang City Hall) also secured a spot in the semifinals by finishing first in the second heat with a time of 2 minutes 32.879 seconds. She maintained a steady pace throughout, defeating Arianna Fontana (Italy), Anna Seidel (Germany), Corinne Stoddard (USA), Olga Tikhonova (Kazakhstan), and Gwendoline Dode (France). Lee Yu-bin, in the fifth heat, crossed the finish line second behind Kim Boutin (Canada) with a time of 2 minutes 17.851 seconds. Among the thirty-six athletes participating in the quarterfinals, she was the second fastest. Lee Yu-bin is ranked number one in the world in this event for the current season. The semifinal spots in this competition are awarded to the first and second place finishers in each heat, along with the three fastest third-place finishers.
