K Construction Supports Entry into UAE Market... Hosts 'Abu Dhabi Sustainability Webinar'
The Overseas Construction Association announced on the 16th that it jointly hosted the 'Abu Dhabi Sustainability Webinar 2022' with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to explore business participation opportunities for domestic construction companies in the fields of carbon neutrality, eco-friendliness, and hydrogen infrastructure.
This webinar was organized to help domestic construction companies expand their business portfolios in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market by discovering next-generation promising growth businesses and establishing strategies in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era.
The briefing session, conducted via a pre-registered Zoom webinar, attracted significant interest, with over 120 participants from related organizations including the construction and engineering industries, consulting firms, research institutes, and financial institutions joining both domestically and locally.
During the webinar, key local institutions in Abu Dhabi presented business opportunities by sector, and major domestic research institutes held panel discussions on the development of UAE hydrogen infrastructure and investment cooperation plans.
From the UAE side, representatives from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Masdar City, Abu Dhabi Environment Agency (EAD), Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and the state-owned energy company Taqa delivered presentations on PPP project structures and guidelines, Masdar innovation city, waste treatment and water resource management policies, hydrogen infrastructure projects, and the future of the energy industry.
On the Korean side, panelists from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, KOBIZ Green Digital Research Institute, and the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance participated in discussions on hydrogen transportation, carbon capture, hydrogen infrastructure construction and operation, and hydrogen city development.
An official from the Overseas Construction Association stated, "In line with the expansion trend of carbon reduction projects following COP26, we will actively communicate and cooperate with the government to support our companies' participation in overseas reduction projects in various ways and prepare for the paradigm shift in overseas construction in the carbon-neutral era. We will spare no effort to support our companies in discovering next-generation promising growth businesses and establishing mid- to long-term strategies beyond the traditional EPC project orders."
