[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City is embarking on establishing a lifelong learning-type urban regeneration model.
According to Buk-gu on the 15th, it was the only district in Gwangju City selected in the Ministry of Education's nationwide competition for the '2022 Lifelong Learning Specialization Support Project,' targeting 180 lifelong learning cities across the country, receiving 20 million KRW in national funding.
Accordingly, starting from March, with a project budget of 55 million KRW including national funds, Buk-gu will operate a 'Preliminary Urban Regeneration Specialist Training Course' consisting of three programs: urban forest, urban alleys, and urban agriculture.
Buk-gu plans to utilize the practical training site 'Bukpyeong (Lifelong Learning in Buk-gu) - Haksupsso,' aiming not only to train personnel but also to nurture them as professional planners involved in culture, urban regeneration, and village-linked projects.
In particular, beginning with the 'Preliminary Urban Regeneration Specialist' course this year, Buk-gu intends to establish a long-term roadmap including the 'Probationary Urban Regeneration Specialist' in 2023 and the 'Professional Urban Regeneration Specialist' in 2024, building an online platform to facilitate active interaction among students and settling it as a specialized model of lifelong learning in Buk-gu.
Director Moon In said, "This project will serve as an opportunity for lifelong learning-type urban regeneration that pursues human growth and spatial regeneration," adding, "We will continue to develop various lifelong education programs to improve the quality of life for residents."
