View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] KT announced on the 15th that it is promoting an AI unmanned sports broadcasting business based on 5th generation (5G) technology in collaboration with Pixelscope, a company specializing in AI broadcasting solutions.
The 5G-based AI unmanned sports broadcasting system features AI automatically controlling cameras and equipment connected via 5G to deliver optimal broadcast footage. Compared to traditional sports broadcasting systems, it simplifies essential equipment such as broadcast vehicles and minimizes operational personnel, enhancing space and cost efficiency.
In particular, deep learning (machine self-learning) technology enables real-time provision of score calculations and referee decision information by analyzing player and ball movements along with various game data. Additionally, cloud computing allows integration and analysis of sports data such as player records, ball speed, trajectory, and statistics.
Unlike the conventional method of storing recorded game footage on-site equipment, both original and edited videos are stored externally in the cloud, increasing reliability. This also eliminates the need for separate backups on-site, improving work efficiency.
KT and Pixelscope have applied the 5G-based AI unmanned sports broadcasting solution to the Pro Table Tennis League, providing high-definition broadcasts through TV sports channels and YouTube.
