KOTRA Supports Consumer Goods Companies Entering Japan... Collaboration with YouTuber 'Parkgane'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyeyoung] KOTRA announced on the 15th that it will hold an online briefing session and consultation meeting from the 22nd of this month in collaboration with four Japanese trade offices and popular Japanese economic and lifestyle YouTuber 'Parkgane' to support Korean companies' local market entry.
Utilizing the great popularity of Korean content through OTT services such as Netflix, the plan is to support small and medium-sized consumer goods companies in entering the Japanese market.
Considering the expanded Hallyu fan base this year, KOTRA plans to support domestic export newcomers in all consumer goods sectors, including processed foods, stationery, computer peripherals, and idea products, targeting Japanese consumers of all ages. Companies that receive positive responses from Japanese buyers can also participate in the 'Korea Consumer Goods Export Fair' scheduled to be held in Korea in June this year, where they will have the opportunity to consult with buyers worldwide.
Park Junsik, CEO of YouTuber Parkgane channel, co-hosting the briefing session, said, "As globalized Hallyu trends spread in Japan, Korean products are noticeably increasing." The CEO of Company A, which participated in last year's project and succeeded in its first export, said, "Last year, I never thought about exporting due to COVID-19, but with the help of KOTRA Nagoya Trade Office, we achieved export results exceeding $10,000 by the end of the year," adding, "We plan to make every effort to expand exports to the Japanese market this year."
Kim Samsik, head of KOTRA Japan Regional Headquarters, emphasized, "Along with the Hallyu craze in Japan, the popularity of Korean consumer goods is hot," and added, "KOTRA will actively promote Korean consumer goods export marketing support projects reflecting the Japanese market and our customers' demands."
