Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation Takes 'COVID-19 Response' to Protect Citizen Safety and Convenience
Establishment of 'Continuity of Functions Plan' to Prepare for Omicron Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] As the rapid spread of the Omicron variant continues, Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation has taken thorough COVID-19 measures to protect the safety and convenience of citizens.
Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation (President Yoon Jinbo) announced on the 13th that it recently established the "Continuity of Function Plan in Preparation for the Spread of the Omicron Variant Virus."
The plan to provide safe and convenient urban rail services amid the spread of COVID-19 includes establishing a response system according to crisis alert levels and implementing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to ensure the continuity of core functions.
Since the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the region in February 2020, the corporation has proactively responded by immediately establishing the "COVID-19 Response Organization and Workforce Operation Plan" and promptly updating improvement measures whenever the situation changed.
Trains are disinfected twice a week, each station is disinfected daily, and passenger contact facilities such as various equipment and handrails are disinfected frequently every day, significantly strengthening quarantine measures.
In particular, the corporation has systematized response guidelines in stages to prepare for not only confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases within the corporation but also unusual situations involving employees' cohabiting family members, implementing these measures company-wide to prevent internal transmission.
Additionally, the corporation quickly reflected the recently changed diagnostic testing system by health authorities, securing 500 self-test kits for rapid antigen tests to immediately confirm infection status on-site when situations arise.
Along with this, regular virtual crisis response drills are conducted in preparation for COVID-19 outbreaks, and for key departments such as the integrated control center, high-intensity quarantine measures are implemented, including securing substitute personnel and preparing separate alternative workplaces according to phased workforce operation plans in case of emergencies.
The corporation also plans to strengthen cooperative quarantine systems linked with local communities such as senior clubs to ensure citizens can use public transportation safely and comfortably.
