Smilegate Launches Console FPS Game 'CrossfireX' Worldwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Smilegate Entertainment announced that it has launched the next-generation console FPS (first-person shooting) game, CrossfireX, worldwide on the 10th. Smilegate plans to intensify its global console market strategy starting with the release of CrossfireX.
Released simultaneously worldwide on this day, CrossfireX is available for all users around the world to play together from 9 a.m. via Xbox's next-generation console devices, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It supports text in nine languages including English, Korean, Spanish, German, and Japanese, and in-game voice supports seven languages. CrossfireX is Smilegate's first console title based on the IP of its online FPS game, Crossfire.
Through the official launch of CrossfireX, Smilegate is making a full-scale push into the global console market, which remains a frontier for domestic game companies. Xbox consoles are highly popular among users in Western regions including North America and Europe, and having gained recognition for the game's quality through the open beta test (OBT), Smilegate expects to expand the Crossfire intellectual property (IP) in the global console game market.
CrossfireX offers free-to-play multiplayer content as its core, and also introduces a single campaign content that concretizes the Crossfire universe through story and characters for the first time. The single campaign content was created in collaboration with Finland's Remedy Entertainment, renowned for its excellent storytelling skills demonstrated in the Max Payne series and Alan Wake series.
