Hyundai Department Store Group Supports Meal Kits for Children at Risk of Food Insecurity
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Hyundai Department Store Group announced on the 6th that it will carry out meal kit support activities for children at risk of food insecurity during the winter vacation period.
The support targets about 500 children under the age of 18 at risk of food insecurity in Seoul. Since January, Hyundai Department Store Group has been providing customized healthy meal kits (ready-to-eat meals) prepared considering children's growth stages once a week through the social welfare foundation 'Heart-Heart Foundation,' and plans to continue the support project until the 23rd of this month.
Previously, Hyundai Department Store Group has conducted various social contribution activities targeting youth. Since 2018, it has consistently carried out meal support projects for children at risk of food insecurity during summer and winter vacation periods, and through Holt Children's Welfare Association, it is also running support projects to help 18-year-old youths about to leave child welfare facilities become independent.
Since 2011, Hyundai Department Store Group has operated the 'Parangsae Scholarship' system, which provides tuition support to children of police officers who died or were injured in the line of duty (preschool children, elementary, middle, and high school students, and university students) recommended by the National Police Agency every year. Including last year's support amount, over 11 years, a total of 1.97 billion KRW has been provided to 1,615 children of fallen and injured police officers. Additionally, since 2008, through the support project for families of fallen firefighters, a total of about 600 families have received 1.9 billion KRW over 14 years until last year.
