Achieving Academic Dreams... Busan Education Office Announces 2022 First Round of Elementary, Middle, and High School Equivalency Exams
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced the implementation plan for the ‘2022 1st Elementary, Middle, and High School Equivalency Examination’ to be held on April 9 on the 4th on the office’s website.
The equivalency examination is an academic qualification recognition test conducted twice a year to provide educational opportunities to those who have not entered regular elementary, middle, or high schools or who have discontinued their studies.
Applications can be submitted both on-site and online. On-site applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. on the 14th to 6 p.m. on the 18th at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education annex application office. Online applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. on the 14th to 6 p.m. on the 17th.
The exam will be held on April 9 at eight testing centers, and separate testing centers will be operated for COVID-19 self-quarantined individuals and confirmed cases.
For the elementary equivalency exam, the testing center will be set up at Dangni Middle School, and for the middle school equivalency exam, at Hwamyung Middle School.
For the high school equivalency exam, testing centers will be established at Namcheon Middle School (1st testing center), Dongyang Middle School (2nd testing center), Namsan Middle School (3rd testing center), Bugok Girls’ Middle School (4th testing center), and Buhung Middle School (5th testing center), and a testing center will also be set up at Busan Prison.
For examinees with disabilities, one assistant will be assigned per testing center, and if ‘disability convenience provision’ is requested, accommodations such as reading aloud and writing on behalf will be provided.
The successful candidates will be announced on May 10 at 10 a.m. on the office’s website.

A representative from the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education said, “To prevent COVID-19 infection, we recommend applying online by obtaining a joint certificate whenever possible,” and added, “When applying in person, please be sure to wear a KF94 mask and take special care to avoid exposure to infection risks.”
