Gwangju Nam-gu "Providing 49.6 Million Won Over 3 Years to Employed Youth"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is publicly recruiting participants for the ‘Youth Hope STAY Job Support Project,’ which provides 1.8 million KRW monthly for two years to those participating in the youth employment program, and offers incentives up to 10 million KRW in the third year to youths who maintain or convert to regular employment.
According to Nam-gu on the 4th, the recruitment of participants for the Youth Hope STAY Job Support Project will be conducted until the 14th.
This project was selected through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘Region-led Youth Job Project’ competition held last year, and is being implemented as a third-year project from March this year until December 2024.
Approximately 1.648 billion KRW is expected to be invested in the project by 2024, with about 568 million KRW expected to be spent in the first year of the project alone.
The background of promoting the Youth Hope STAY Job Support Project is to enable local youths to work at regional companies, gain quality jobs through innovation and growth, and to ensure continuity in revitalizing the local economy through economic activities.
To promote this project, Nam-gu publicly recruited ‘Youth Hope STAY Job Support Project Participating Companies’ in January among companies in the future new industry and New Deal-related sectors located in the district that have hiring plans, and it was confirmed that a total of 23 companies submitted participation applications.
Accordingly, Nam-gu plans to collaborate with these companies to provide jobs for 31 youths in future-oriented new business sectors preparing for the 4th industrial revolution, such as drones, Internet of Things, cloud, AI, big data, online content including webtoons, YouTube, SNS, and more.
The work standard is 40 hours per week, 5 days a week, with a monthly salary of at least 2 million KRW, and any unemployed youth aged 39 or younger residing in Nam-gu can participate.
Youths selected as project participants will receive up to 1.8 million KRW monthly as labor costs until 2023, while companies employing the participants will bear 10% of the participant’s labor costs and the four major social insurance premiums.
Additionally, youths who work for two years at the respective companies and maintain or convert to regular employment, or who find regular employment or start a business within three months at a company in Nam-gu, will be provided incentives up to 10 million KRW annually.
Meanwhile, through last year’s Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s region-led youth job project, Nam-gu provided jobs to 27 local youths, of whom 9 are currently working as regular employees.
