‘Highly Pathogenic AI’ Confirmed at Layer Farm in Cheonan, Chungnam
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza (AI) announced on the 3rd that highly pathogenic AI was confirmed at a laying hen farm in Cheonan, Chungnam. This is the 30th case of highly pathogenic AI occurring in poultry farms since last autumn.
This farm raises approximately 578,000 ducks. The headquarters is implementing proactive quarantine measures such as restricting farm access, culling, and epidemiological investigations immediately upon confirmation of suspected cases.

The headquarters stated, "As highly pathogenic AI has been occurring intensively in Gyeonggi, Chungnam and Chungbuk, and Jeonnam and Jeonbuk recently, it is essential to maintain a thorough quarantine posture." They urged, "Poultry farms should not let their guard down and must meticulously follow quarantine rules, including the four-step disinfection process on farms."
